Dermot Gallagher

Dermot is one of the Football League's most experienced and well-respected referees and has refereed around 2,500 fixtures at all levels in his long career and only recently he officiated at his 1,000th league match in the Lancashire derby clash between Preston and Burnley at Deepdale.

Dermot officiated in the Football League from 1985, and was amongst the first band of Referees on the commencement of the FA Premier League in 1992. During this time he has also been a FIFA referee for over 9 years, officiating in 139 matches abroad.

Highlights include all the major finals in England, FA Cup 1996, Charity Shield 1995, FA Trophy 1995 and Vase 1984. Abroad he has refereed the U20 World Cup Final in 1995 Argentina v Brazil, The South African Cup Final 1995, Brazilian Cup Final 1996, FIFA Military Games Final 2001 and numerous Champions League, European Internationals and World Cup matches
